Purpose/ Mandate and Objectives


The associations aims and objectives shall include:

  1. Idea Diffusion-to get a creative and innovative membership of students who can interact with likeminds and also mentors.
  2. Provide a platform where students can team up and analyze other start-ups and make case studies/caselets about them which can be use as a resource by other students.
  3. To create opportunities, within the organization, for members to obtain long-term business and social relationships.
  4. Create an incubator where business ideas can be furnished, nurtured pitched and developed into real products and services to address and solve the new and different consumer needs.
  5. Through lectures, panel discussions, interactive workshops we help students gain unique insight and connections to the world of venturing.
  6. To encourage members to achieve their goals by fostering their entrepreneural endeavors.
  7. To create opportunities for members to meet and form relationships with the Young Entrepreneur Association and other entrepreneurial alumni.
  8. To inform students of the opportunities available to them through Entrepreneurship and personal entreprise programs.
  9. To provide members with the opportunity to attend national and international entrepreneur conventions and business planning workshops.
  10. To provide members with the ability to meet successful entrepreneurs by creating a well-structured Alumni connection.
  11. To do work with start-ups to connect them with financial institutions to get financing and expand their businesses as well as provide financial/management information to form a basis of running their businesses.
  12. To act as a core driver of innovation and technological development, which lead to improved methods, products and services.
  13. Conducting case studies in successful companies and also start-ups.


Our Mission Statement

SOBEC is a student organization that brings students together from multiple colleges and academic disciplines here at The University of Nairobi, School of Business in an attempt to generate new business ideas and opportunities for its members, both at the academic and professional levels.



To promote entrepreneural mindset both as a founder or manager of a start-up as well as in the role of investor or corporate partner.
