Peace Units Programme (P.U.P) is an Interreligious, Interfaith and Intercultural platform founded in 1999 by IMCS PaxRomana to promote action of students in active non-violence and peace building with tertiary level education institutions. It aims at empowering students to be effective agents in promoting peace, human rights, harmonious co-existence and resolution of conflicts. This is done through

inculcation of a culture of dialogue and respect of one another between students and administrators and any other stakeholders.

It also facilitates the acquisition of knowledge and skills for dialogue, communication, negotiation and mediation among students, administrators and religious leaders in institutions of higher learning. At lower kabete campus, this mission is realized through establish creative channels through which students can be inspired to take an interest in Peace building, human rights, advocacy and conflict transformation processes and the care of the environment in their country.

PUP holds students debates before SONU and SOBO leaders’ elections to create a flat form for vying leaders to sign peace agreement forms promising the rest of the students of their willingness to maintain peace during and after elections. This is one initiative that has so far contributed to the peace currently prevailing in our campus.  The program also addresses issues of individual internal peace which may be lacking as a result of anxiety, stress, internal strife, hunger and even poverty. These issues are addressed through counseling and fund raising for needy students.

We welcome all to join us in our journey towards a peaceful co-existence of all in campus regardless of race, tribe, religion or gender.
