Purpose and Objectives

  • To promote the inculcation of a culture of dialogue and respect of one another between students and administrators and any other stakeholders as a way of solving problems in institutions of higher learning.
  • To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills for dialogue, communication, negotiation and mediation among students, administrators and religious leaders within and outside campus.
  • To establish creative channels through which students can be inspired to take an interest in Peace building, human rights, advocacy and conflict transformation processes and the care of the environment in their country.
  •  To facilitate free and fair elections within campus through civic education and monitoring the election process,
  • To facilitate acquisition of knowledge and skill for students through workshops, seminars and exchange programs.
  • To create systems that will diffuse conflict through early warning signs.
  • To create mechanisms and avenues for networking and collaboration with governments, youths and other organizations that work for peace, human rights and good governance locally and internationally



“To be an effective and all inclusive movement of students committed to the promotion of peace, human rights, harmonious existence and resolution of conflict in a non -violence manner within tertiary institution ns and the whole society at large.”



Peace Units programme Kenya aims to promote active non-violence and peace building in tertiary institutions. Guided by our motto, peace= active non-violence + dialogue, we envision a society build on value of peace and harmonious coexistence where conflicts are resolved through dialogue. PUP also aims at improving the lives of students and disadvantaged (Youth) by providing training on life skills so as to participate effectively in the development of our country.
