On Friday, May 5th, 2023, the University of Nairobi held the Student Recognition Award ceremony for the 2021/2022 Academic year at Taifa Hall. This year, the ceremony aimed to recognize students who excel not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities. Awards were given in various categories, such as Talent, Research and Publication, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Corporate Social Responsibility, Leadership, Volunteerism, Extracurricular Activities, and Sports and Games.

Over 65 students were honored during the event for their outstanding performance in various activities. Rugero Idd Mubaraka was named the overall best student in the Academic performance category from the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences. The students received awards from various donors, including the PricewaterhouseCoopers Prize, Marketing Society Of Kenya, Kenya Institute of Supplies Management, Deloitte And Touche Prize, Dr. A.C.L. De’souza Memorial Prize, KENINDIA Assurance Company Ltd, PKF Kenya Prize, and Kenya Breweries Limited Prize. Additionally, they received the Prof. Isaac M. Mbeche Management Science Award and Unilever Kenya Ltd - Outstanding Scholar prize.

During the award ceremony, Prof. Kiama, the chief guest, outlined the University's strategic goal of producing well-rounded graduates who excel in both academics and extracurricular activities. He congratulated the students who received awards, stating that their commitment to excellence earned them well-deserved badges of distinction. He added “Through these prizes, the University appreciates and lauds you for your dedication to the cause, hard work and discipline, perseverance, as well as willingness to go the extra mile in order to deliver nothing but the best. Your sterling performance also demonstrates desirable attributes of character building and a solid foundation for growth in the fields that you will pursue going forward. I wish you every success.”

The University of Nairobi prides itself on being a centre of excellence and a home of talent. It consistently recognizes and honours students who achieve in academics, co-curricular activities, and extra-curricular activities. The Staff and students from the Faculty of Business management congratulate the 65 students and urge the current students to strive towards personal growth and academic excellence.
