The University of Nairobi held the Annual Staff Recognition Awards Ceremony on November 27th, 2023. This grand event was a celebration of the extraordinary contributions made by the faculty and staff who demonstrated dedication and commitment to their roles. It was a testament to the university's unrelenting commitment to recognizing and rewarding exceptional performance.

During the ceremony, the Department of Management Science and Project Planning stood out with an excellent score of 2.3628, securing position 3 out of 61 teaching departments. Additionally, the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences ranked position 7 overall. Dr. Thomas Ombati, Chairman of the Department of Management Science and Project Planning, received a certificate and Trophy for the Department’s outstanding performance.

The ceremony also marked the signing of the Performance Contract for the Financial Year 2023/2024. Prof. Amukowa Anangwe, Chair of Council, emphasized the significance of teamwork and collaboration. She stated, "Teamwork and harmony are essential to our success. We must strive together towards a shared vision." Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama highlighted the importance of performance contracting in streamlining management and operations, which can enhance efficiency across the institution.

Furthermore; Mr. Brian Ouma, Chief Operations Officer, emphasized the importance of extending performance contracting to individual staff appraisal. He emphasized the periodic assessment of employees' job performance against university competencies.

The ceremony marked an outstanding year for the UoN staff, with all faculties achieving a "Very Good" grade. Prof. Kiama commended the commitment to excellence in service delivery. The University extended congratulations to all staff members, recognizing their contributions to quality education and training.
