Artificial intelligence is changing the way human being operate at the work place. AI tools and apps have made Experts in their fields to achieve ten times the productivity.
Speaking during the AI Lecture Hall Meeting held on March, 2, 2026 at the Faculty of Business, University of Nairobi, Prof. Jovan Petronijevic, urged students and staff to embrace artificial intelligence in their everyday life.
He dispelled the myth that AI will take over jobs saying that his job is Prompt Engineering, a job which didn’t exist some 10 years back. He opined that many more jobs are being created with the evolution of Artificial Intelligence. “AI follows orders and makes you creative. Humans have the ability to create. AI is restricted to the constraints you give it, “he said. He also warned the audience of the dangers of AI hallucinations.
He cited examples big corporations that have used non fact checked AI data and landed in trouble and their business contracts cancelled.
“China recently introduced AI in primary schools, teaching children about artificial intelligence,“ he said. He observed that China is forward looking, preparing the future generation for the future to come.
Professor Jovan explained to the audience the steps he takes in prompt engineering which involed getting the context, action, role and making prompts.
He explained the principle of garbage in and garbage out saying that AI as a tool, when used by an expert, it helps the expert to achieve ten times the productivity, but when used by a non expert, the productivity is not enhanced either. He urged students to be experts in the fields of study.
Prof. Kennedy Ogollah, Dean, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, University of Nairobi, urged students to take advantage of the international exchange programs offered by the Faculty. He noted that currently about 12 students are out of the country on exchange programs and 6 more are preparing to leave the country this year.
