The Faculty of Business and Management Sciences got some new benches courtesy of Friend of Lower Kabete Campus. The generous donation was done by a group of Doctorate Students, friends and Alumni of Faculty of business.
Speaking during the event, Associate Dean, Prof. Joshua Wanjare, thanked the PhD students for the generous contribution. He appealed to them to step up the support towards the university noting that students need support in many areas including prize giving days, scholarship opportunities to help those from humble backgrounds to achieve their academic goals with less financial stress. Prof. Wanjare called upon the Alumni from the Faculty of Business and Management Science to step up and support the Faculty. " Some of our alumni are captains of the industry, " he said.
Prof. Z.B. Awino noted that seven doctorate students went to South Africa and they were delighted to see the wonderful facilities at Nelson Mandela University. They were on student exchange programs, an initiative started about 10 years ago. On their return, they vowed to leave a mark at the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, and hence the idea to buy the state of the art benches fitted with electric charging systems for phones and laptops. Prof. Awino was accompanies by Prof. Florence Muindi, Chair, Department of Business Administration. " Our focus is teaching, leaning and research. This kind gesture to give back to the University of Nairobi is because of the state of our infrastructure, they need improvement," he said.
