The Embu County Governor, Hon. Cecily Mbarire, received the final copy of the Embu County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023-2027 on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. The CIDP 2023-2027 was jointly conceptualized and developed by a team of experts from the University of Nairobi, the University of Embu, and the Embu County economic planning team.  The University of Nairobi entered into a partnership agreement with the Embu County government in December 2022, with one of the areas of collaboration being the University's commitment to supporting the government in developing the Embu County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023-2027.

The process of developing the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023-2027 began in January 2023 at the Kenya School of Government - Embu. The UoN team collaborated with researchers from the University of Embu and the county economic planning team to conceptualize and carry out a series of activities that resulted in the final 5-year integrated plan. The Team held public participation forums, prepared the county-integrated plans, and involved key stakeholders in validating the proposed plans.

The Embu County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023-2027 features various programs and projects that cut across all sectors, including health, education (ECDE and VTCs), agriculture, water and irrigation, land and urban management and development, climate change, roads, transportation, and public works, trade tourism and industrial development, ICT, and youth, talents, and sports development.

The University of Nairobi commends Embu County government on its accomplishments and pledges to continuously support the county in implementing and delivering on the county Integrated plans for the benefit of Embu county residents and by extension, the Republic of Kenya.
