University of Nairobi Football team has finally reached the Universities Football finals after edging out Strathmore University football team in clash of titans. The game was played at Lower Kabate Campus, School of Business and Management Sciences.
Both teams fought hard to score against each other, but eventually, the University of Nairobi football team emerged winners.
The match ended in a goal-less draw and was forced into penalties. After the shootout, the results were 5-4 in favour of the University of Nairobi football team. Strathmore University football team had to walk with their heads bowed down. Despite fighting so hard and being the favourtie in the first half of the game, they surrendered to the mighty giants, the University of Nairobi football team.
The 3 days event will be concluded today as Moi University football team meet University of Nairobi football team. The game will be played today at the Main Campus grounds. Both teams had met previously and the game ended in goal-less draw. Both teams are aiming to emerge victorious today and take home the coveted cup.
Speaking to the Coach, University of Nairobi football team, he opined that he has learnt the weaknesses of his opponents and is very ready to tackle them and emerge victorious.
The sports extravanganza is an annual event that brings together all Universities accross the country. The event helps students to build networks even as they pursue their academics. Sports is key as it helps the participants to build teamwork, endurance. These are important qualities in the job market after the students graduate.
