Staff members from the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, University of Nairobi had an opportunity to share academic and research experiences with International Business Academy (IBA), Denmark.
Speaking during the event, Prof. Fredrih Seistrop, from IBA, whose docket majors on consultancy, short programs, executive development programs shared his experiences on how they have been able to collaborate and tap into the industry.
He noted that they developed several short courses, many of which has been done in partnership with the industry leaders and multinationals.
Prof. Fredrih observed that they use new knowledge integrated with industry experiences. “In Denmark, companies pay for employees to go to school and some of these programs get part sponsorship from the government,” he said.
They have worked with some of the biggest companies, including DSV, Denmark. DSV is the leading global transport and logistics company in Denmark, providing comprehensive road, air, and sea freight services.
On his part, Prof. Kennedy Ogollah, Dean, Faculty of Business and Management Sciences noted that as a Faculty, “We have tried to implement short programs and executive programs. Majorly held in Mombasa Campus, we bring in people from industry to have a feel of what we are offering”, he said. He added that as a University which is globally competitive, our pillars are teaching, learning, research and community development.
The Dean added that it is time for the Lecturers to harness the rich network among the students and to be able to convert complex publications easily understandable my members of the academia into a language easily understandable by the Kenyan population.
Dr. Anthony Ndun’gu, who is a running a short course on Monitoring and Evaluation gave insights on the current short course program and how they have been able to navigate the challenges of selection, teaching and graduating students from over 120 applicants.
