The Faculty of Business and Management Sciences has admitted over 250 students for the Academic year 2021/2022. The registration process kicked off on Monday 20th September 2021.

The highlight of the orientation week is the address by the faculty officials led by the Dean, Chairman of Departments, Faculty Registrar, Unit heads and the final address by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama; held on Wednesday, September 22 2021. The morning session was held at the Biashara Hall, Lower Kabete Campus and a blended afternoon Session held at Taifa Hall, Main Campus and virtually.

The Dean, Prof. Jackson Maalu; started his address by welcoming students to the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences saying “I congratulate each one of you on your admission to the University of Nairobi; each of you has met the entry requirements to pursue our various academic programmes offered by our prestigious University, a leading University in the country and the region.” Further, Prof. Maalu gave a brief history of the faculty and highlights of some of the achievements and programs offered by the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences. The Dean also introduced the Chairpersons of the 3 departments Finance Accounting, Business Administration and Management Science & Project Planning. Each gave a brief introduction of the departments and the programmes they offer.

During the morning session, students were also introduced to various section heads mainly Assistant Dean of Students, School Administrative Staff, UHS Representative, Halls Officer, Games Tutor, Catering Officer, ICT Officer, Librarian officer, Campus Security Officer and Students’ Representatives who will play a critical role in assisting students settle into the University.

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama began the afternoon session by congratulating the over 10,000 students who have joined the University across the 11 faculties for the academic year 2021/2022. “It is my honor and privilege to welcome you to the University. Officially, you are now members of the UoN family. This will be your home for the next 4 or 5 years depending on the program that you have been admitted into” Prof. Kiama further advised students to take advantage of the various opportunities the University offers students. He further assured students that the University will transform the student’s lives, adding “Take advantage of our supportive environment. We are going to expose you to experiential learning and seek to impact on you so that you leave the University as a different person-completely refined and transformed. We will train and repackage you.

The Vice Chancellor ended his address by wishing all the students the very best as they navigate their stay at the University, “this is the best place to cultivate dignity, sincerity and style.
