This article examines the influence of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on intra-regional dynamics. Given that the BRI traverses many countries, what has not been fully addressed in the literature is how the initiative is likely to influence inter-state relations in specific regions.

 As the University of Nairobi gears up to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies (IAGAS) will also be celebrating 50 years since inception.

“IAGAS is as old as the university.” Said Prof. Onyango Ouma, the current director of the institute.
