Staff members at the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences were taken through the University of Nairobi Strategic Plan 2023 – 2027.
Speaking during the event, Chief Operating Officer , Mr. Brian Ouma highlighted the various projects the Advancement Office has been working on over the last 10 years, many of them almost bearing fruit. Some of the projects he highlighted include: Science and Innovation Park being funded by the French government and student hostels at Mamlaka with a bed capacity of about 4,000 which will be funded by the government of Kenya.
Mr. Brian Ouma observed that everyone has a role to play at individual levels, by striving to achieve corporate goals and targets. “It is crucial for us to acknowledge that majority of staff don’t understand the strategic plan and how it is linked to performance contract. The performance contract implementation will foster a culture of accountability, ensure operations are result driven. By holding our selves accountable, we can achieve our strategic plans accordingly,” he said.
Dean Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, Prof. Ken Ogolla noted that by linking performance to strategic plan, everything else will fall into place. He outlined the achievements of the faculty including the establishment of various centers of excellence like the center of small business development, Finance and Accounting research center and several students pursuing post-doctoral studies in Kenya and South Africa.
Dr. Grace Kiringa, Director of Planning and Performance Management took the opportunity to take the staff through the new strategic plan and the importance of having a strategic plan, which is meant to guide the University of Nairobi for a period of five years.
