The Intellectual Property Seminar for Academic & Research Institutions

The significance of intellectual property (IP) rights cannot be overstated in today's world, where creativity and innovation are driving forces for economic growth and development. Kenya has taken significant steps to strengthen its IP laws in recent years by enacting new regulations as well as becoming a member of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), which provides a regional framework for IP protection and cooperation.

Speaking during her PhD thesis, Farida Karoney, former Lands Cabinet Secretary looked into the disruptive ways that media has been challenged in the way they do business.

“When I was a young journalist, Kenyans would get news via the radio or television. That is not the case anymore. The media has changed. In fact there are some Kenyans with a bigger following on social media than some media companies. They have more clients than some of our media stations’, she observed.

Researchers challenged to reach out to the community during the Research Week

 Speaking during the weeklong event, Fredrick Ndambuki, representing the Ministry of Education emphasized that research remains key in our institutions of higher learning.  He pointed out that the  Government has committed 749 Million shillings to Research. “I commend UoN for research week. It must a platform to show research and celebration and recognition of researchers in the role they play in the growth and development of our country,” he said.

Varsity hosts 14th African International Business Management Conference (AIBUMA)

The 14th African International Business Management Conference (AIBUMA) was held on October 26-27, 2023, during the 6th Annual UoN Research Week. The theme of the AIBUMA conference was "Harnessing Recent Innovations, Research, Technologies, and Development in Business and Management Sciences for Resilience and Sustainability in Society," which was in line with the UoN Research Week theme of "Harnessing Research for Resilience and Sustainability of Communities."
