UoN Partners with World Data Lab to Unpack Africa's Youth Employment Crisis

The University of Nairobi on Monday 30th March 2026 hosted the first public dissemination of the Africa Youth Employment Outlook 2026, a landmark report by the World Data Lab that lays bare the growing mismatch between Africa’s economic growth and job creation. The event was delivered in partnership with the University of Cape Town -Development Policy Research Unit and the Mastercard Foundation, and in collaboration with the Departments of Business Administration and Economics and Development Studies.

Faculty Staff Trained on Fire Safety

 

The training was conducted by Augustine Mburu on Wednesday, March 25, 2025 at the New Lecture Theatre.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Mburu explained in details the fire triangle and what ensures that fire can take place, these are; oxygen, heat and fuel. The absence of any of these will result in fire failure and in our case, being able to put off the fire. “It is the fire triangle that causes fire. There must be oxygen, heat and fuel, “he said.

This was the question the Senate and the University of Nairobi Council has undertaken to unravel as the team appointed by the same is going around various Faculties to counter check if their courses and curriculum have been aligned with Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) an approach to teaching and learning that focuses on the ability to perform tasks to industry standards, rather than the number of hours a student spends in class.
